This seems a little extreme

In addition to banning freshmen rush, pledging and affiliation, the policy will also prohibit freshmen attendance at any fraternity- or sorority-sponsored event. In particular, sophomores, juniors and seniors will not be permitted to bring freshmen of any gender to formal and semiformal events as dates.
|
So if a guy who is in a fraternity wants to bring his Freshmen girlfriend to his formal he can't?

Isn't this already banned?
Or did Princeton finally realize that sending out the same strongly-worded letter discouraging it for the past 8 years is not doing anything?

That's what I was going to ask. I could've sworn I've seen variations of this thread every year since I've been on GC.

LOL.
Sure, the university has been sending out a letter strongly discouraging pledging / recruitment for years, but AFAIK this is the first time it's gone as far as saying recruitment / pledging would be grounds for kicking students out temporarily (I'm assuming Princeton will have some way to let violators back eventually).

Coming up next: "alienation of affection" lawsuit by freshman girlfriend or boyfriend of fraternity or sorority member, naming the school.
Also coming up: underground way off-campus parties, just like the rest of us poor slobs have been putting up with for decades.

That's correct.
