Got my dress!

It's almost there!!! We just need alterations (the top does not fit at all, lol) and my real belt...and on that note...

The store lost my belt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The woman assisting me brings my dress into the dressing room, but I notice that there's no belt. I mention to her that I had one and she went to look for it. She comes back and tells me it's not in. Weird, but whatever. I ask her to grab any belt just so I can get the full effect.

As I'm getting ready to leave, the store manager comes to me with my file and says "Oh, I pulled your file and you've already picked it up." Um, NO. I would know if I would have picked it up! She shows us the file that half of the receipt is gone and it says "taken" next to the line on the order sheet for the belt, indicating that we've picked it up. I did not pick it up. Nor did my mother. THERE WAS NO PICKING UP OF THE BELT.

The manager said she would see if the other manager knew anything about it, since she works closer with the inventory. What pisses me off the most is the fact that there was absolutely no empathy towards the situation. If you work in a customer oriented occupation, you can at least have some decent customer service skills. She didn't apologize once! She didn't have an attitude per se, but it she just gave off this "not my problem" kind of feel.

She just called today to let me know that she talked to the other manager. She still did not apologize or admit that someone over there made some kind of mistake but she offered a solution. Either A) they can give me another belt (the same one I ordered) that they already have in the store, which is two sizes larger or B) they can re-order and it will be in in March. I opted for A since the belt needs to be cut and sewn into the dress anyways.

I humored some of my bridesmaids who came along and looked at some bridesmaid dresses after my appointment, but I will not be doing anymore business with Brides by Demetrios. I will get my dress altered elsewhere.

It's kind of sad because I really loved my consultant. She was very knowledgable, polite and best of all (to me at least), not pushy. It's a shame her boss stinks!

1. Yeeeeaaa I saw you posted here and rushed over to see if you there was a pic of your dress! It's GORGEOUS!

2. Booooo about the belt. I don't blame you for wanting to take your business somewhere else. That's so disappointing but at least your gown is rockin'!

I love the way the dress is blowing in the wind. Weird I know.

Does anyone know where I can find a nice hanger for the "gown on the hanger" picture? My dress doesn't have traditional sleeves, and I'm thinking I may have to thumbtack it to the door with a pretty hanger looking as if it's holding up the dress.

ETA: I used to make pretty hangers, with lace loops to hold up lingerie, so if it has to be made, I can probably do it.

Etsy has a lot of pretty hangers. I think I am going to order one of these:

Very cute! There are a bunch on ebay, too, but I don't have that much time. I may end up making one myself?

Feel like I have to post this:

http://www.priscillaofboston.com/index.jsp

As everybody knows, Priscilla is closing down as of 12/31.

They aren't taking anymore actual orders, BUT their flagship salons are still selling samples trying to get rid of them. They're even lower than the first time I posted about the sale.

If you live near one, and are okay with buying a sample and having it fitted elsewhere, you should definitely check it out.

A $4,000 gown for $499 is insane.

Bridesmaids dresses for $10? I'm tempted to go buy a bunch just for the "In case of a formal occasion" pile.

If you live near one, I would definitely go just to see what they have left. A friend of mine who lives near the NY location stopped in just to see what they had and there was still a good selection of stuff. Granted they're all samples, so they've been tried on and maybe don't look as super awesome as they might if you ordered them, but really, none of them probably have anything going on that a good trip to the cleaners/a steamer and some alterations can't fix.
