They are trying it this way this year. I assume if they like it it will stay this way. I think they are hoping it will stop girls from dropping from a chapter before they even get to the house/ meeting spot.

I, too, got the good news from my daughter tonight after she found out she had a bid...after a very hard rush where she was cut from what she thought going into this would be her first choice (indirect legacy) right after the first parties and cut from my sorority (a direct legacy) right before preference! It has been a difficult time for both of us and part of me is still grieving, so I am glad tonight will hopefully have a happy ending! Got to tell you I'm not over the moon about IU rush. From the early start back before her dorm was even open, to the running between houses at opposite ends of campus on foot in bad weather because there was no available transportation, rushing at IU is not easy for the PMN's and even harder for the greek alum moms!

Congrats to both of you ivyrose2--your daughter is lucky to have a mom who will "ride it out" with her, but yet not interfere in her ability to cope. Happy that she found her home!

From what I've read about IU rush here on GC over the past decade, IU has taken multiple helpful steps to improve recruitment. There is limited probability all 26 NPC sororities will ever be on campus at one time (they have 23 now).
Let's all enjoy today's Bid Day and allow the sorority women of IU additional time to sort-out any recruitment errors and necessities as they see fit.

agree - it has improved just in the past three years w/having a minimum quota set two years ago that has increased again this year. If memory serves me, some chapters took in the low 30's when there were 1700 girls going through then. And if now there is guaranteed placement for girls who maximize their options, that is a huge improvement. Baby steps? Yes but at least in the right direction.

Yes! My DD will be on the IU Tennis Courts tonight too. Receiving her bid! She texted me 4 min before rho gam showed up to dorm, she thought all was lost. She was the last girl in group to be notified. Whew............

CONGRATS to her and to all of you who worked to bring your IU Sigma Kappa chapter back. It's so satisfying to see endeavors come to fruition!
