Rush here I come...

Hey all...here goes...tonights the night. Scared outta my wits, but I'm sure you all were at some point right?

Mostly nervous about a dream I had where I'm wearing the same thing the sisters are...and in it they are pissed. Other than that I'm doing good and am hoping the sorority that I really like, likes me back. Just one house tonight, I'm new to this whole thing, and seeing how it goes tonight will decide if I check out others.

All are informal in case you wanted to know.

Okay time to hopefully pick out an outfit that doesn't match everyone elses!!!

How many houses are participating in informal recruitment?

Um, about five or six of the eight from what I've seen in flyers (then again...they may all be. I can only go by what I've seen). I will make sure to let you all know how it goes. Although, I'm sure it will be quite different as our entire Greek Life tends to stray from what I've read here. Thank you all for your wishes of luck...heading out in nine minutes

During recruitment this fall, I DID wear the same thing that one of the houses was wearing one night

but of course they weren't mad; one of the girls pointed it out to me and we ended up laughing about it.

I can't believe how much fun this first night was!!! My rusher was so fabulous (and now I kinda get why it's been called "Rush"). This first house was beautiful (but I don't really care what it looks like...it's the feel I get from the organization that matters to me). I did a couple things that I am embarassed now for (hmmm, I'll post details in a couple weeks when rush is over...it wasn't anything bad...or silly....just a couple "I'm a clutz" moments). But this organization is wonderful. I can't wait to talk with these girls again

. Even if nothing comes of this, the experience in itself is amazing and memorable!

Heh...the dream you had reminded me of a conversation I had with my mom before pref parties when I rushed a few weeks ago. I had seen some girls around campus wearing all black, and I told my mom. She was like, "I bet it's so that they can tell the sisters apart from the potential new members! I wonder what they would do if you wore all black too? Would it confuse them?" It was really funny, because obviously the girls in the sororities know who their sisters are....

Hey all, sorry about the lack of updates...I've been bogged down with the good 'ole homework.

For those of you who wanted to know about what sororities the University of Massachusetts Amherst has they are:

Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Epsilon Phi
Chi Omega
Delta Zeta
Iota Gamma Upsilon
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Sigma Delta Tau
Sigma Kappa
Delta Xi Phi
Kappa Phi Lambda

Of those, I'm truly only interested in two. I may or may not say which, but definatley no information until after rush week (i.e. after this week).

Went to another party tonight, and it is so great. I love all the sisters and I just feel at home there. And I was much more relaxed tonight. I hope my plans work out because I really see nothing but good things from the house I have in mind.

Thanks again for all your good wishes. Gosh even if it doesn't work out it has been so fun and I really have enjoyed meeting all the great girls I've met!

It's done...and unfortunatley I'm disapointed to say that I did not get invited back to pref night. They told us pref's were being handed out at a certain time tonight, and I never got a knock on my door. Oh well I guess. No invite to pref (even if it is informal) figures as no bid to me.

While I looked into all the sororities, there is only one that I could truly see myself growing at and being a part of. So it's over. I can only say that rush itself was a good experience, and there must be something bigger and better out there for me. Thank you all for your kind wishes btw, I really appreciated them. Good luck in Greek Life all. Have real good semesters. It's off to hit the books full time now.
