Interest Group Possibilities

hey guys so i was wondering, i currently have 25 people in my interest group to colonize a fraternity. Were all great friends so the brotherhood is there. However we get officially initiated and begun as a colony next Fall. But that's a year away, basically the rest of my time in college. What can we do as an interest group NOW?

We get pinned as new members in march. Can we try to hold parties and mixers and philanthropy events. I want to start acting as a full chapter now to not waste the little time i have left in college.

What do you guys recommend? Will getting caught partying hurt our chances at colonization? will sorority girls agree to have mixers with us? Will we be brushed off for not being a full chapter yet? I mean i could say we're already in the colonization process. Any info is highly appreciated, thanks!

Your national org and your Greek Life office can give you a better answer. That being said, my experience has been that once you are given new member status, you can participate in Greek Life. However, ask the people who will know for YOUR campus and national org.

not sure why you would have to wait that long. I am my fraternity's Expansion Director. it should not take that long. l started working with a group at Nebraska about eight weeks ago, and we gave them affiliate(colony) status last week.

The college and the national organization may have timelines that have planned the actual colonization for a specific semester.
