First step...

My appplications are in.
My top 3 Schools

UF- just back from visiting the campus/town loved everything about it.
FSU- lived in Tally for a year so didn't need to visit the campus.
UCF- 3rd choice...

So, the first step was applying. That's done. Now, I won't know whether or not i've been accepted until Feb. 15th.

In the meanwhile, I was looking at the different sororities, there are so many. What is the difference between Panhellenic, National Pan-Hellenic, Multicultural? Also, are all sororities a part of recruitment?

I'm new here myself, and looking for fraternity related matters... BUT, here's what I know/have found out.

Panhellenic- first "umbrella organization" made for the Greek system, founded in 1902, and has 26 member organizations (Greek letter organizations).

National Pan-hellenic- are more of the traditional African-American sororities (dunno that much about them, sorry)

Multicultural - "Multicultural sororities belong to one of the newest branches of Greek life. These organizations can be identified by their dedication to multiculturalism, equality and the idea that all people are part of a human family. Generally, multicultural sororities were founded by women of very diverse backgrounds who desired the benefits of bringing women together from similarly diverse backgrounds." (http://www.geocities.com/multicsoror...ticultural.htm)

...but, this is from a guy who doesn't know that much... ladies, a little help here?

NPHC stands for National Pan-Hellenic Council and is an umbrella organization for nine historically black, international Greek lettered fraternities and sororities. Here is a link to their site: http://www.nphchq.org/home.htm

I will defer to NPHC members for further information - just wanted to clear up that it's not "non-panhellenic".

Thanks, for clearing that up for me. I must've mixed up what I was reading. I went and edited the post.
