these are all great ideas and give you a lot to think about-
some of the things i thought about

work with the MEVP to bring in a speaker on spirituality or holistic healing...

recommend books on different religions, find out if faith based organizations on campuses have open houses or have speakers appearing on campus.

for those sisters who are religous maybe they would like to share certain traditions with the rest of the chapter...such as the lighting of the menorah for chanukah or a seder at passover or breaking the fast at ramadan ...those are just a couple that come to mind.

also, i would definitely work with the philanthropy chair and i would maybe try to work with the Guard on ritual.

as a chaplain, you can become a very valuable and insightful resource to your chapter....look at the precedent you are setting for all the future chaplains of your chapter

in fact, i am an advisor to Rho chapter and at Eboard this coming weekend, I am going to bring up a lot of these points to the group!

That holistic healing is an interesting idea and one I wouldn't have thought of- way to go!

It hasn't been going.
A lot of the ideas I throw out/try are pretty much shot down because it's "not the way we do things."

That's too bad! I hate it when people aren't open to change. ADPi does not stay "First. Finest. Forever...." when we do things the same old way. Ask them what would have happened if Eugenia had been satisfied with the way things were done at her school. OK- I'll calm down now but I do feel for ya, sister!

This type of thinking ALWAYS makes me see red!! The very worst excuse for doing something the same way every time is "because we've always done things that way"!!!

Am I the only person who's read "A Whack On The Side of the Head"? It & its sister books teach how to think more creatively - which it sounds as if your chapter needs to do.

Maybe you need to read Jabberwocky at the next meeting....

Talk to your adviser. Explain that you want to bring something new and fresh to your office, while maintaining the ideals set in your officer manual and in the COB.

As chaplain, you are also charged with being part of the Standards and Ethics committee--- take it upon yourself to keep sisters feeling uplifted and that someone out there cares.
