Just a note...when are you all going to learn to just skip over the ridiculous things that Tom posts? He's been greek for how long and still can't spell sorority and sororities?
/end hijack

There's enough people who posted on that one thread who defend him...ah well...no use complaining about it. As long as he's a mod the ignore button is useless.

Well, I didn't want to ask and look like the old fogey that I am, so I appreciate all those who did identify him.

All I know is that i listen to his CD religiously, and all the greek references he makes are positive or neutral...in school spirit he makes references to a few BGLOs in the chorus pretty neutrally, but one line in particular makes reference to him pledging: "Red and white One's, yeah that's my Kappa style"... I don't think any negative experience he had with a greek org. had to do with his negativity towards college in general. Man the skits on that CD are hilarious. I love Kanye

So I didn't like his music at first, but then I actually listened to his rap on "Through the Wire" rather than the annoying chick in the background, and now I'm in love with "All Falls Down..."

"Man I promise, she's so self-conscious.
She has no idea what she's doing in college.
The major that she majored in don't make no money,
But she won't drop out, her parent's will look at her funny.
Now tell me that ain't insecure,
The concept of school seems so secure..."

Who in college can't relate to that?

Another of my favorite lines from that song, and CarolinaCutie loves it too...

"I wanna act ballerific, like it's all terrific.
I got a couple past due bills, I won't get specific.
I got a problem with spending before I get it..."

Anyway. He makes more references to Kappa, so that would be my guess. But does it really matter?

I am more offended by Kanye West as a college graduate and educator. I think his feelings about his college experience will negatively influence impressionable youth. I mean, alot of young people do not value education as it is, now here he comes.

The greek references were positive (although, I wish he included all of the D9 orgs in School Spirit).

Still, the CD is hot and in heavy rotation in my CD player.

I've been to a Kanye West concert. I'm willing to bet the reason he "depledged" was because he dropped out of college before coming off line (I think that's what it's called? My bad if not.) If he left during the middle of this period, there's no way he'd get into whichever group he was trying to become a member of, assuming my knowledge of historically black fraternities is correct.
