knowing that jean poutine isn't our prime minister and that we have provinces (not providences) should confirm the canadian-ness methinks

Someone's been watching "Talking To Americans" lol

Anyways, I'm not Canadian, but I live in Canada. I haven't enjoyed my time in Saskatoon thus far, so I am not sure if I am going to stay here to see my plan of expanding Phi Delta Theta to the University of Saskatchewan through...but time will tell.

I admit, I've only been on skates once - when I was about 8 and I never let go of the side of the rink, so I don't know if I would've been able to stand.

knowing my great lack in balance, I doubt I'd be able to skate successfully.

Ah, Canada. how great it is. I've been job hunting in the States so much that my focus hasn't been on our glorious land.

And what's with everyone complainign about the cold?

I hope Oliver's is still fun... though I was sad to hear about the demise of the Bree's Inn years ago

Actually it may be the end of Oliver's too... CUSA's lease is up and administration wants to turn it into a new bookstore and additional parking.

Wow I remember when that was a major source of revenue for CUSA and the University... Wednsdays you used to have to start lining up an hour before opening if you wanted to be sure of getting in before 10:00... the place was always semi-full during the days too... wonder what happened.

I don't know too much about it. At fall rush, I think numbers were down. Five sororities still on campus (Gamma Phi Beta is no longer on campus, according to canadiangreeks.com). Not too sure about the fraternities. My feeling is that there is little promotion of Greek life in a positive manner, thus numbers for all organizations are down. Just my opinion. Maybe someone who is an active Greek at UWO can shed some more light on this.

Positive promo of Greeks on any Canadian campus is very rare... as I'm sure you know... as for GPhiB - I knew about that - which made me more curious about the current situation at UWO, in light of the past decade of houses closing...

PS> I know about an mourn the loss of some of the classic 'establishments' too... particularlly the Ride... though the Ceeps still exists it is a shadow of its former 'glory'.

Yes, the Ridout is now a parking lot. I have so many memories of that place and the Ramp. The Ceeps is still a watering hole (except when it's Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday night). Still always lineups outside the bars on Richmond Row. Lots of changes to the London nightlife since my days at UWO...
