What do bids look like?

Seeing the photos of the 2011 NMs at Auburn with their bids
(http://auburnalphagammadelta.blogspot.com/) led to this post. The bid that's in my scrapbook is on what was known as an 'informal' notecard (4.25 x 5.5, folded in half, white, with the coat of arms and "Alpha Gamma Delta" in gold). The handwritten text was "The women of Epsilon Alpha Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta extend the bonds of sisterhood to you." I believe I've also seen those bid cards with similar text printed, with a blank for the NM's name.

I understand that with pledge classes of 50 or more, writing bids by hand would be quite a chore. But the bids that these happy Auburn Alpha Gams are holding are computer printed on 8.5 x 11 paper. Colorful but casual.

Is that the style for everyone's bids these days?

Just curious!

Ours are done on card stock, with the coat of arms and the important information on it. It's been a while since I've actually seen one, so I'm not as familiar as I should be.

Ours were card stock like you described, though I could definitely imagine something like "oh, sh**, we are out of bid cards, quick, someone print something on your computer!"

Oops! I should have searched first.

Ha! No problem, I just knew this sounded familiar.

I got a look at some old blank bid cards tonight (we handed out bids). They look completely different from that bid card. Ours have Sigma Alpha Iota in red, all caps, and some weird font.

Mine was on white cardstock with red AOII letters, my name written in, and something like "The sisters of Gamma Theta chapter of AOII would like to extend a bid of membership to Twinkle555." The current ones for my chapter are super cute. Same cardstock/wording, but the AOII is in black and the rose we use on the national website is on the card

My bid (2004) was on official stationery and looked like a wedding invitation, but in 2007 when I was a Rho Gamma, Panhellenic had the same bid card for everyone and would just write in the chapter and the NM's name.
