The 2 other women's orgs are Kappa Kappa Gamma and Kappa Alpha Theta.
So we'll be the "Alpha" chapter.

Just an update on the Alpha Epsilon Phi colony at the U. of Minnesota, from the student paper:
http://www.mndaily.com/2009/03/09/so...become-charter
Excerpts:
Alpha Epsilon Phi has accomplished a longtime goal. It is now a full member of the Panhellenic Council.
Now, to establish themselves in the greek community, they are looking to get a house and a charter.
In December, the Panhellenic Council voted to approve Alpha Epsilon Phi, a Jewish-interest sorority.
As for when it will receive its charter and become an official chapter, Rachel Campbell, a traveling educational consultant, said the processing time can vary.
. . . Campbell has been working with the women at the University of Minnesota to help the sorority establish itself. She said much of the process of receiving a charter comes through formal recruitment and philanthropy work.
Jen Baddin, the sorority colony president , said the women hope to receive their charter within a year. . . .

I believe they have a group of 20 so far, including the ASUI President.

I saw the article in the Argonaut (linked to it here) but it was the first I had seen on campus. My friend asked me about it, and then said he was "too old" and we decided to eat lunch. Midterms and the snow are just making it BLAH.

Even though AEPhi does not limit its membership only to Jewish women and has never had any restrictive clauses, the national organization does self identify as a Jewish sorority. While I know that some of the historically Jewish fraternities no longer call themselves Jewish fraternities this is not the case for AEPhi. It is accurate and appropriate to refer to AEPhi as Jewish interest sorority.

Here's the article from The Daily Aztec:

Three new fraternities to be introduced to SDSU
The Interfraternity Council has decided to expand. On Feb. 5, in a vote of 7-to-2, fraternity chapters voted in favor of bringing three new fraternities to San Diego State during the next three years. IFC will add one new fraternity each year. Accepting a third fraternity, however, will be contingent on the success of the first two.
IFC President Marc Schroeder said that chapters voted in favor because four fraternities had been dropped in the last year. He said they not only want the Greek system to grow, but diversify.
Still, two chapters voted against the expansion.
They felt like it would bring on too much competition for some of the smaller chapters, Schroeder said.
National organizations interested in becoming a part of the SDSU Greek community have to apply by March 13. After reviewing the proposals, the Expansion Committee will select which ones to bring to campus for formal presentations later this spring.

Update: Kappa Sigma is only an interest group here, not a colony yet. They need a few more members before KS will let them colonize.
Annnd I can't join DSP because I'm a senior. Ugh, timing!
