Question GDI vs Random

It wasn't until GC that I heard the term "GDI." In SD we call non greeks randoms, and none of my greek friends at other schools say GDI either. So is this an east coast, west coast thing? What do you say?

HAHA! I just found out yesterday what GDI means...one of my sisters swore that it was another fraternity! (I'm so easily fooled!) Up until then, I had only heard of "non-greeks" or Independents....I think I prefer GDI, though! Ps, she told me it stood for Gamma Delta Iota!

Well, for me, anyone who isn't a Greek that comes to our parties, or just hangs out with us, and are normally just cool people, I call "Random".

ANYONE who makes fun of Greeks, or say that I Bought my friends, or believes all the generalizations about us, are "GDI"s.

Question

Just a question, Why are Ramdons and GDIs coming to Greek Parties?

I thought unless it was an open sponsored party for anyone, it was for the Chapter and Dates.

This is what can get you in deep doodoo with the Police, Org. and school!

Anti everything for Greeks is in vouge so watch yourselfs!

If it’s at a party and I don’t know you I will refer to you as a random. If I have met you and know your not part of an organization I will refer to you as GDI. This is mainly for female party guests when guys are asking for info and introductions.

Well, our house likes to be open to ANYONE. We've never done "Greek only" or "Invite only" as far long as I've been in Delta Sig. I don't like it, but the majority of the house does.

Maybe that's why our 4:20 party was so huge..............

Well down here in Miami, non-Greeks are referred to as GDI's...and they also refer to THEMSELVES as GDI's. The Greeks on my campus pretty much run everything (SGA, Student Clubs, Alumni Association,Sports, ect...) so sooner or later EVERYONE goes Greek!
*(All this time i thought it was a stuck up Miami term...LOL)*

GDI's are GDI's.

"Random" is a term we used for anything/one we were unfamiliar with. "Who is that random Crow by the bar?" "I went digging through my closet and found this random shirt."

I think the other usage of random is a west coast thing.
