Happy Alum Initiate

Hi...I found this board trying to do some searching on LSU recruitment for a younger relative. And then I was thrilled to find a forum dedicated to alum initiates.

Long story short...I received a bid from Phi Mu as a freshman....ended up having to turn it down because I hadn't had a heart to heart talk with my parents about it, and my dad wanted me to wait. (money was tight). Later he gave me permission to go ahead, but I had met my future husband at that point and the timing wasn't right.

My younger sister went to the same college and became a Phi Mu and served as chapter president.

Speed ahead 25 years from my experience...my daughter went to my alma mater and went through recruitment, but decided to go with a different Greek group. I was so happy she got the group she wanted, and a little sad for myself for having missed that sisterhood in college, and after several discussions with my sister, decided to pursue joining Phi Mu as an alum initiate. I did in 2001 and have enjoyed the extra bond I now share with my sister, as well as the ladies I've met through the alumnae chapter.

It's been a wonderful experience.

A very neat story and welcome to G C also.

While some feel there is a difference between Fraternitys and Sororitys in this area, I have found by reading the many posts that every one is excited when they attain Initiation.

The few that We at My Chapter that have been Initiated were just like regular Members but the exception, they were a little older and participated in many activies.

Where Female GLOs have a big difference is the Alum Associations that are stronger many times over than Male Glos.

Which ever, there are many AI Ladies on GC and are very instrumental in working with their respective GLOs.

Congratulations to one and all.

That's lovely! I'm glad for you! We've only had one other Phi Mu so far (adduncan). I'll have to add you to the list!

Hey..that's cool. I love AI stories like yours. This was pretty much DG Marie's situation. There was also Brooke who came "home" to DZ.

COOL.
