Question about Bids
Hi again everyone ! The more I read here the more I learn about Greek Life the the whole process of rush. But I'm a little confused about one thing. As I've read through the threads and posts some people talk about how they get their bids before the acutal Bid Days. What does this mean?

Anyone who tells you that they got a bid prior to Bid Day is a liar. Anyone who tells you ANYTHING about the membership selection process is not to be trusted. Period.

Who talks about getting a bid before Bid Day? Whoever it is, they're either a) lying (as honeychile said) or b) participating in something that isn't kosher. It's against the rules for a sorority member to promise a PNM a bid before Bid Day, so if that's going on, there's a problem.

You might have read about guys getting their bids before school started. That is an entirely different matter.
If you mean sororities, could you post the link where someone said that happened?

Or there's always the possibility of c) not using the correct terminology
....As seems to have been the case in the thread to which she referred.

Nah, my dad got a bid a week before bid day to his fraternity back in the day. He has no reason to lie, I believe him.

Fraternities and sororities have different guidelines with regards to bids. NPC sororities must go by the NPC guidelines whereas fraternities have more leeway.

What she said.
A lot of fraternity members think that the NPC has too many guidelines regarding recruitment, membership, etc. I like how things are cut and dry...it's easier that way.
