They hunted you down, visited with you, and then the mem.chair contacted you asking you to rush in the spring? That seems like very positive to me. Do it, if you like them and would like to learn more about them. Good luck!

No, yes, and unless this is an extremely small recruitment, they didn't so much "change their mind" as perhaps they didn't have room during formal recruitment and now they do.

I don't think I'm understanding the "problem." It sounds like they're inviting you to participate in the COB/informal recruiting process after break. They received your information and met with you again once, and now the membership chair has asked you to continue participating. This all seems positive to me. Am I misunderstanding what's happening?

It's very likely that they were gathering interest now, in preparation for inviting women to come to some informal recruitment events once spring semester starts in the new year. Then, they'll offer bids for a spring semester pledge class. I'd be very surprised if any bids were offered now, in the midst of finals, etc. Typically, nothing official happens until the next semester.
