Lambda Chi Alpha began the recolonization of their Beta Xi chapter at Bloomsburg University of 3/21/15. 28 Associate Members will start the chapter. This chapter went dormant nearly 25 years ago, and their dedicated alums have been working diligently to get the chapter back on campus.

Delta Sigma Phi has been closed at the University of Arizona. Closure is due to RMF and violations that occured while on probation.

Seriously how many times does this have to happen before the guys (and to a lesser but still equally as annoying extent gals) learn that your school and your fraternity headquarters are not kidding about alcohol and hazing?

Unfortunately fraternities are not nearly so accurate (or honest) about listing active and inactive chapters but I'd place money on a bet that the total number of fraternity chapters has decreased during the past decade while the number of sorority chapters has gained substantially. So sad to see so may old and strong chapters go up in smoke. I have to feel that one big difference is that alumni are far less involved today with fraternities than years ago, and as compared to sororities. It takes local oversight that a central office and staff simply cannot to.

Not only that, we were talking in another thread about Greek interest for guys being down period, RMF notwithstanding. It's most obvious in schools with a lower Greek interest but is trickling up as well.
And of course, we all know that the population of women in college outnumbers that of men.

Oops, sorry! No, it's Stockton University in New Jersey. Also, both announcements were from national orgs on Facebook.

Don't know how this one went unnoticed, but Alpha Chi Omega's national website says they will be the first Panhellenic sorority at Western Oregon Unversity. There's no date given on the announcement but the email link for more information says WOU 2016 so my guess would be a Fall 2016 colony. Link here.
