I was looking for a website and typed in the name without .com because my browser does that automatically. The actual site was a .net. The .com site forwarded me to an anti-abortion site where I was suddenly looking at picture of an aborted fetus. It was not exactly what I needed to see. It was really awful. Anyway, I am very upset that I saw this and needed to vent. I figured this was a more appropriate thread that the Random Thread.

Back to the t-shirt talk.

Absolutely. As far as the tee is concerned, for people who consider abortion simply an operation, it's like an "I had my gallbladder removed" shirt which is a sick concept by itself!

For those who consider a fetus to be alive, it's a HORRIBLE concept!

But for those who are sick and tired of the way society condemns people who choose a route that is better for them (and for their child/ren if that baby will be brought up in a negative home, put through the "system," etc.), I get it.

For the record, pro-choice is NOT pro-abortion. I am strictly pro-life morally and personally, but I wouldn't stop another person from saving her child from being born into the world as it is today.

That's what I was going to say. This shirt makes girls that are sloots that much easier to pick out in a crowd.

Maybe the purchasers see it as a sign of empowerment. Not that it something to be PROUD of but not something they are ashamed of, either.

The whole reason these "I had an abortion" shirts even happened was that, in France about 10 years ago, a lawmaker said that women who have had abortions really won't ever become much and they'll still end up having kids they can't afford and become a drain on society. I think he said something to the effect of, "show me a successful woman who has terminated her pregnancy."

So, in response to that, a fairly large group of powerful women in French government, businesss, etc. decided to come forward in a major newspaper and admit that they had had abortions. In the US, the Ms Foundation decided to do the same, but...with T-shirts.

Kind of creepy, huh?
