I just finished reading "Familiar Evil" by Rannah Gray. It is the true story of how one letter to the editor about a contract dispute, and one email that was sent to the author of that email, set in motion the steps that uncovered a predatory child molester who lived in my community.
Next up: The Civil War Diary of a Confederate Woman by Sarah Morgan.

Just started reading this a couple of days ago as it was the April 2016 selection for the Chi Omega Cleveland West AC book club (I'm a little behind schedule!). The author, Kristin Hannah, is a Tri Delta.
For the July 2016 Tri Delta Cleveland West Side AC Poseidon's Readers (book club) meetings, we're reading "Daffodils and Fireflies" by Claudia J. Taller. We're so lucky - she lives in the greater Cleveland area, so we were able to arrange for her to lead our discussion!
These reading ladies of Tri Delta and ChiO are fun and very Panhellenic! Three Zeta Tau Alphas and a Kappa Alpha Theta are also involved with both book clubs.

The Kate Shugak mystery series by Dana Stabenow. There are 20 as of now, so I'm happy to be set with books for the foreseeable future! They take place in Alaska. Kate is a native Aleut who investigates murders for the Anchorage DA -- like most murder mystery series, you have to suspend disbelief that the number of murders per capita is drastically higher than the statistical average, and that they happen so frequently in proximity of the main character/sleuth...especially in this case, because she lives out in the bush and her nearest neighbor is miles away.
They are really well-written. I'm on the third one. Diana Gabaldon recommends them, and if a favorite author recommends another author, that's a good lead.

I'm reading After You, the follow up to Me Before You. I didn't know what to expect; while it is quite different from the first, it still tugging on the ol' heart strings.

I read a lot of YA fiction since I'm a high school English teacher. Currently reading American Girls by Alison Umminger and an ARC of The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon - both really good so far!

The Guns of August, by Barbara Tuchman, also published as August 1914. It covers--in great detail--the first month of World War I.
