single sorority campus

I'm in Phi Sigma Sigma on a University of Wisconsin campus and we just finished rush and will pref next Friday. Anyone have any advice about how to get more members? We have trouble keeping our numbers up because we don't have any other Greek Life on campus, no Greek Life office or Greek Week or anything. Any ideas?

Are there any fraternities on campus? If you don't have a panhellenic, then you'll have to do all of the advertising of Greek Life yourselves. Put your big letters out at football games (we could do this on the field, but if you can put them out in front of the stadium, that would be good, too.) Your sisters need to be visible. You could have members stand in front of the female dorms and hand out bottles of cold water to people moving into the dorm. Have a movie night for the dorms. Plaster the campus with posters that describe the benefits of greek life. Be creative, but expect whatever you do will be a lot of work!

Is this a commuter campus or primarily resident? Do you have a suite or a house? The reason I'm asking ist that you need to target these ladies differently.

Could you decorate pumpkins for a COB event and donate them to a local nursing home? How about an inexpensive fundraiser where you could stand out/in a busy area, and sell something like Cider/Coffee and Donuts or a build-your-own taco? This could get you exposure that Greek life isn't all about parties.

definitely do this especially if there aren't any fraternities.

Are you the only ones there because you're the first or the only ones there because everyone else has died off or left?

^^^ that's a good question. but i also ask, is are there any other campuses we know of that are single-chapter greek life? i heard of some schools on here that have 2 or 3 chapters, thus changing what greek life is like, from recruitment to the social scene, but id be interested to hear what a campus with one chapter looks like.

Tld221, as far as I know, Bellarmine University in Louisville has Phi Mu as the sole sorority. I don't believe there are any fraternities.

Ringling College of Art has one sorority (Tri Sigma) and one fraternity (Phi Delt). I think it's neat that an art school has a Greek scene in the first place!

As far as I know, University of Alaska-Fairbanks and Gustavus Adolphus College [MN] both have one sorority on campus (Sigma Sigma Sigma).

In Ohio....
Lake Erie College has a Gamma Phi Beta colony (no other sororities). They have Kappa Sigma and a TKE interest group.
Steubenville has Theta Phi Alpha and no fraternities
Cleveland State has Theta Phi Alpha and a bunch of locals (lots of fraternities)

I have a full list somewhere on GC. I'll look for it.

Okay here is a list of campuses with only one NPC sorority. It's from back in February so it may have changed a bit. It also doesn't include NPHC sororities - I just couldn't find all the information.

ETA: Just to clarify, there could be local sororities on these campuses. I only did the NPCs.
