Preference Night

hi everyone, i'm new to the site. I was wondering, do ya'll have any song ideas for a pref solo or pref performance? I searched a couple threads and didnt have any luck...

Also, which do you think would be better...

give a song and have auditions
OR
have open auditions and let them chose their song

THANK YOU!

Welcome to GreekChat, Violet08!

I hope you find a lot of good advice and friends here - there are a LOT of chapters respresented, and of course, what works for one chapter may not work for another. If you take a look at the top threads, you might want to tell us what chapter you're at, and some things like that - so chapters around the same style may better help you.

But mostly, sisters will PM you with help. This Forum is open to ALL people in sororities, and while we're all for acting Panhellenic, that stops at Recruitment! So, enjoy, good luck with Recruitment!

This is some all-Panhellenic advice, then:

Give a song and hold auditions with them singing that song. You aren't trying to find the next American Idol, just someone who can sing the song you need.

As for song choices, talk to your district recruitment director. She supports many chapters with planning recruitment and will help you plan your perfect pref! Your advisers and fellow chapter members are also a great resource.

We are singing "For Good" from Wicked! Another sister is playing it on the piano and we have two sisters singing! It is BEAUTIFUL and everyone cries and the PNM's loooooove it!

i was pref party chair last year and we had tried to use the song but our advisors wouldn't let us out of fear that nobody would know the song. i think that its just such a great song.

CRASH (Sorry)

You don't NEED to know that song for it to be beautiful!!! That is one of my favorite songs. I burned it on a CD for part of one of my best friend's Christmas presents.

This song was featured quite prominently at VLS this weekend in a beautiful memorial service for Margaret Anne MacDonald Bundy. While I've seen (and LOVED) Wicked, that song now has a new meaning....

Violet08, I would definitely suggest getting a copy of the new Recruitment manual that was just handed out at VLS/Recruitment Express this past weekend- lots of great information!!!
