I applaud your effort to get recommendations early, but this far in advance is probably too early. Recommendations for Fall rush are probably best sent in May because otherwise the Recruitment Chair will sit on the rec for a very long time...and considering that most schools won't have their fall recruitment registration going for a while, there's a good chance that any recs could/would get lost.

I recommend waiting until after the first of the year - preferably around March/April to get recs. I also suggest that you contact the local alumi chapter for a LOCAL rec. A local recommendation may hold more worth than one from someone who doesn't know you from say, Nebraska.
