Old member...umm...I mean alum :P

Hey all, I am an alumnus of Sigma Kappa Sorority. I have been an alum since the late 90s (which may give away my age) Anyhoo, was just catching up on all things Sig Kap and found this website. My family is very represented in Greek life on my mom's side. My maternal Grandmother was a Delta Zeta, my sister and aunt were Phi Mus, my other sister was an ADPi, one cousin is also a Sig Kap, one cousin is a Gamma Phi Beta, and one cousin is a Pi Beta Phi. My mom was the only one who wasn't Greek because she married right out of high school. We are a very diverse group to say the least

And I forgot to include the guy. My uncle was also a member of a fraternity but I can't remember which one off the top of my head.

When my nieces are old enough to go to college, I almost hope that they go different sororities then what we have already represented in our family. Could you imagine a family with every NPC sorority represented. That would be kind of awesome

All right darlin'...you're an alumna...because you're a woman. And a bunch of us are alumnae.
Men - one is an alumnus and more than one are alumni.
And your college's organized group of former students is referred to as alumni, because it has both male and female members.
Informally, I'm an alum and a bunch of us are alums.

Sorry, that's just a pet peeve of mine!

Welcome!

Welcome Cloudburst!

One time there was someone posting here on GC that claimed to be a legacy of something like 9 different NPC groups, or it might have been one of those “weird rush stories” where a PNM said it during recruitment. It’s not a very probable scenario (it seemed doubtful in that particular situation, whatever it was), but definitely possible if you have a large enough family where most women have gone Greek. Of course each group has its own legacy policy, so you’d have to make sure your grandmothers joined sororities that consider a granddaughter a legacy.
