Marshall U. Pi Kappa Alpha House Shut Down (Fire Code)
Another house shut down because of fire code violations. The violations included a de-activated fire alarm system, according to the local paper:
http://www.herald-dispatch.com/news/...ouse-shut-down
This is another opportunity to remind RM chairs, house managers, and alumni house boards of the importance of keeping housing up to code.

They should give them a break. After all, it's Pike, they keep a fire truck in the front yard for christ's sake. And if the house did catch on fire, they could dump all their creatine and muscle milk on it to put it out.

I drive by this house almost everyday and had no idea it was in that bad of shape. Granted it could use a little cosmetic touch ups, but seriously, a dismantled fire system?

We just put this massive water pipe system throughout our entire house to keep up with the fire codes, maybe they should look into that.

I imagined that gel could put it out pretty easily.
Hairspray's a bit flammable though.

It's like a civil war in Africa; you know, it doesn't really concern you too much. - P.J. O'Rourke

I don't know about anyone else, but i think it is ridiculous that anyone(be it the college, gov. who ever) even has the power to shut down the house......

I'd hope the Pikes would be emphasizing fire safety
ETA: I just read the articles - Lit gasoline-soaked jeans? Mattresses? THE FIRE TRUCK IN THE FRONT YARD?
This chapter is full of WTF.
