A student newspaper article about the "nationals going local" situation at Washington and Lee.
http://ringtumphi.com/3098/opinion/sorority-shake-up/
The article also mentions an attempt to colonize a Delta Kappa Epsilon chapter at W&L. I had heard rumors about that in the W&L alumni community.
According to the DKE website, they had a colony at W&L in the 1860s.

I saw on Irishpipes' thread that Sigma Kappa was presenting at Alabama-is this actually happening? Obviously the numbers are there but I didn't know they were open for extension.

In addition, Phi Mu was invited to colonize at Boise State University in Spring '19 or TBD.

Alabama has been "kinda, sorta" open for a few years.
Someone with more knowledge of NPC expansion can correct me; from my understanding, if an organization has previously been on a campus, the campus Panhellenic and the org can make an agreement that they can come back and colonize if and when both parties agree. The campus does not necessarily have to be open to all NPC organizations. Am I correct, or totally off-base here?

DU
DU also closed its Manitoba Chapter on February 19th for low membership and a large debt to the general fraternity. The chapter was chartered in 1929 and had about 850 initiates over 87 years.

From what I understand, expansion has been on hold because of the construction of new sorority houses for all NPC sororities except SDT (which recruits at a different time and has a house in a different area per their choice).
Construction end is in sight - the last two houses will be replaced this and next year.
My understanding is that Sigma Kappa would colonize in 2018. But I'm not sure that's set it stone yet.

Yes, they can agree to give the group first rights of refusal, so to speak, if they all agree.

Did not realize Boise State was open but that's great they're doing well with expansion and growing.
Good luck to Sigma Kappa at Alabama, I can only hope Alpha Xi will be back too!

Would love to see us re-establish more of our SEC chapters.

I believe the SK presentation at Alabama is tomorrow. I hope AXiD is presenting, too. Having both back would be great for the Greek System there.
