Locals are Greek letter organizations with only one chapter (that is, they are only on one university or college campus). (Someone please correct me if groups w/two to three chapters are sometimes called locals - I'm not 100% positive on that.) Some locals have been around for decades. Others are more recent. Some locals are established with the goal of becoming a chapter of a national sorority or fraternity.
Now, I didn't see my sorority's colors on the above postings - so I will add them!
Sigma Alpha
Emerald and Maize

NPHC organizations are historically and predominately African American.

95% of the info you're asking for is somewhere on this board, but to tell you the truth, I didn't feel like looking for the links to all the posts so I know you won't either (unless yo have that kind of time on your hands) SO, being the internet DIVA that I am, I will post as many sites I can remember/have access to. Y'all help me out if I forget some.
John, is there a centrally located place on the board where we can put this info since so many people request it?
National Panhellenic Conference (NPC): http://www.npcwomen.org
National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC/Divine Nine): www.nphc.org
National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO): www.nalfo.org
North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC): www.nicindy.org
***I looked for a national site for the IFC, but I couldn't find one.***

Listing of Professional Fraternities: http://ca.yahoo.com/Society_and_Cult.../Professional/

I truly hope this helps. Like I said y'all, if I missed something, please add it. TOODLES!!

I just had a question; I did not know that old gold was one of teh colors of Omega Psi Phi. If I'm mistaken please feel free to tell me. And the colors for Iota Phi Theta are charcoal brown and gilded gold.

Great resource list! Just FYI, IFC is the common term for the NIC.

Yes Shady tail, the colors of Omega Psi Phi are royal purple and old gold. Most of the time you just hear "purple and gold"
