I thought our usage of the color "buff" was unique, but I found that Delta Chi's colors are "red and buff"--

Mothers Clubs?

Hi,

Not sure if this is where I should post this, but....

Do Mothers Clubs still exist?

I was flipping through an old Quarterly I have from 1952, and one of the stories is a tribute to Alpha Gamma Delta Mothers Clubs.

Here's an excerpt...

"'The new lamp is a gift from the Mothers Club!' 'The Mothers Club will make our new draperies.' 'The Mothers are holding a rummage sale to raise money for new carpeting.' From coast to coast and border to border, in ever undergraduate chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta, you'll hear remarks like these. For these women, mothers of Alpha Gams, have demonstrated that they are a moving force within the fraternity.
In 1915, a group of Alpha Gam mothers decided to form a club, to see if they could add a few comforts to their daughters' college life. They believed that more could be given and that they, themselves, could derive more pleasure if they worked together. Though their daughters have long ago graduated, these mothers are still loyal, still meet about six times a year, still feel the bond which holds them together."

What a lovely concept. I've actually never heard of a mothers club.

Does anyone know much about them?

Loyally,
Mai

My chapter

My chapter had mother's and father's clubs. They met once a year and collected funds to help the chapter. I went to school in the middle of nowhere but we did have mom's and dad's weekends organized by the school so that is when the meetings where held. Our father's club was the most active, having offciers, etc. It was great!
