"Kidnapping" Fundraiser

Has anyone ever successfully done a kidnapping fundraiser?? Can you explain it?
  1. How many chapters were involved?
  2. Do you prep the people you're going to kidnap?
  3. Where do you put them once they've been nabbed?
  4. When do you take them, and how do you alert people that they've been taken?
  5. What do you charge for people to get them back?

Check with your Greek Adviser first. Many schools have banned these "kidnapping" fundraisers.

I have seen chapters kidnap the presidents of the other chapters. They are "held" in the kidnappers chapter house, and are treated like royalty-pizza, soft drinks, etc. Ransom was canned goods (x amount) delivered to the kidnappers chapter house at x o'clock. Canned goods were donated to a homeless shelter.

Check with your own GLO as well; it may not be allowed for a number of reasons.

I am really interested in this as well.

AZTheta, would it not be allowed because of the term "kidnapping"? Or for other reasons too?

It's the activity, not simply the word itself. Check on Risk Management policies, etc. Your HQ can provide you with guidance. So can MJ Insurance (or whatever company GPhi uses). So you need to check two places: your HQ and your University/Greek Life office.

It gets done a bit over here but with "arresting" various CEOs, organisational leaders and then having the membership pay to "bail" them out.

It's done with the consent of all participants, and usually with volunteers for said "arrest"
