Did all of the sororities make their quotas?

Quota was 72. A handful had quota +1 or +2 and a couple had more quota additions than that. I believe they have it set so that as many as possible get their first or second choice

Guaranteed placement. PNMs who maximize their options are guaranteed a bid. If a PNM is only invited to one pref, and attends that pref, that will be her chapter, regardless of quota. The 5% rule for QAs is gone. Also, RMF specialists can use discretion and place more QAs in smaller chapters (if the PNM preffed there.)

Thanks, irishpipes! My campus doesn't have guaranteed placement and has much lower numbers so I've never seen the results of that rule on a big campus like Auburn. I think it's great that so mant ladies were able to find a home there this week!

I don't know where your campus is but with RFM, that's how it works and all campuses, even Indiana with its crazy bed total, use RFM. Maybe things are just more even on your campus and you just don't notice it.

Are all NPC recruitments at a point that using RFM means that there is guaranteed placement for PNMS who maximize options?

It would be kind of cool if we knew that going to pref and maximizing totally guaranteed a bid, but I didn't realize we were there for all campuses with RFM these days. I though you could still get dropped at UGA, for instance, depending on whom you preffed and what quota was.

Well, quota is determined after all girls sign their pref cards. So I'm not sure that affects things.

But also, even with schools that have "guaranteed placement" it still bars outstanding circumstances. A girl can be dropped after pref if something is seriously wrong.

Yes, quota is not determined until all MRABAs are submitted so it is based only on the number of women still in recruitment at that point. And IF a woman has maximized her options, she will get a bid. Now, some don't like the bid they get and so will say they were dropped or dropped out but if she signed a bid card AND maximized her options, she has A bid.

Well, bless her heart, except for the outlier who bombs her own recruitment or for whom "untoward" information is received between pref and submittal of bid list.

Released

My daughter was released her GPA was 3.23 from a northern private school. This GPA to love for many of the sororities. It looks like all the sororities met their quota. On a 4.5 scale her GPA was 3.6 and we didn't include that.... Ant advice for COB??

Have her contact campus Panhellenic to let them know she is interested in COB. Every chapter made quota, however they may or may not be at campus total (the cap on the number of girls chapters can have). If the camps re-adjusts total after formal recruitment which many campuses do, then there should be a few spots open.

This made me LOL. On a side note, I wonder if RFM is making it harder or easier for those who want to purposely bomb their rush (i.e. those who were forced by mom to go through) to do so. Not Auburn, necessarily, but in general.

No. Because most all schools operate on a 4.0 scale. I've never even heard of a 4.5 scale. And she doesn't have a 3.6/4.0. If she lists her GPA as 3.6, and does not clarify that it is on a 4.5 scale, they will assume it's out of 4.0, and when they check it against her transcript and find out she lied, it will look very bad.

Even if you clarify a 3.6/4.5 it doesn't make a difference. Her GPA is what it is. If she chooses to re-rush during formal recruitment next year, her college GPA will be what matters.

Just to be clear, "guaranteed placement" means once they have been invited to preference party/ies. It is not common but unfortunately does happen that girls get cut completely from rush at some point before preference parties. As far as I know there is only one school where a girl is guaranteed admission into a sorority from day 1.

I don't want to start a firestorm, but my guess is Auburn is going to be looking for expansion in the next year or so. I would say there is hope for your daughter, either through rushing as a sophomore or colony expansion. Make sure she gets very involved on campus, keeps her grades high and her reputation impeccable.

As far as GPA, she should post it as the "based on 4.0" number, but from the end of the first semester her high school grades will no longer matter. As soon as she has a college GPA, that is the only one that will matter. And a/some sororities may have an informal rush, but it will likely be next semester if it does happen.
