Recruitment at Kent State
I was just invited to the event for sorority recruitment in the Fall at Kent State University and was wondering if juniors are allowed to rush? That is the year I will be in the Fall and I am really interested in going greek. I am very involved and know a good amount of greek woman. Help please!

Of course you are.
Wish I could tag KSUViolet!

Juniors are permitted to go through recruitment and I know of one junior who got a bid at KSU from one of the more competitive chapters. Kent's Greek life is getting stronger. Additionally, another sorority will be colonizing (I think in the Spring) and this would be an another chance to join as an upper classman. I agree with Irish Lake, we need to get KSUViolet to chime in.

I go to Kent State and went through recruitment in the fall of 2011. Do not stress out about being a junior. I know plenty of juniors who have gone through and gotten into a sorority at Kent. It is not a factor that will hurt you.

Hi! Junior status is not really a factor, especially as KSU gets a lot of branch campus transfers and such going through. I think that every chapter usually takes a few. Hopefully you took the leap and went to info night!

Hey all! Old school GC-er here that has come back from the depths My niece is a freshman and will be going through KSU rush here in a couple weeks (I'm so excited!!) Any tips for her? I pledged at a MUCH smaller university so my experience will differ from hers. So far, I'm just paying her fees and being her moral support, lol!

Gotta love KSU! If you decide to do it, enjoy the experience!
I'm not a member of a NPC but I've met Juniors who have participated and got a bid in the past!

The OP is a junior though. I think that's what she was reading.

Biggest piece of advice:
Keep an open mind. Unless she is a transfer or someone who has managed to completely ignore Greek Life for 2 years, she probably has some preconceived notions of "I only want to be in _____ or _______." It's always best to go in with a clean slate and give everyone a shot. Every chapter on campus really is amazing. There is also the colony opportunity coming soon with Phi Mu, which is worth considering.
