greek cheers and jeers

Just noticed a couple of things today in my university's greek world ...

cheers to Phi Sigma Kappa who colonized here this past weekend. The original chapter had a lot of history at my school but was closed down four years ago. The group of guys bringing that chapter back to life has done an awesome job. One of their members is a columnist for the school newspaper and wrote a nice column in today's edition. (Its the Tuesday edition at www.dailyegyptian.com under Outlaw Nation columnist Joe Johnson)

jeers to a sorority alumni (only a 1st year law student) who was at a bar tonight drinking in letters. Everytime I see something like this, I just wonder how could you "forget" you have letters on when you go to a bar? Just a pet peeve, because I value my letters so much.

cheers to a group of Delta Sigs who I saw out tonite. Two are graduating and I have known them since my freshman year - Fall 1997. And my "little bro" was there. Thanks for a walk down memory lane.

Cheers to the lovely Elon AOTT's and AXiD's of this weekend, who showed another fine example of greek sisterhood : )

Cheers to all of you for being such an outstanding example of why I went greek and for promoting greek unity everywhere : )

Cheers to the sorority girls who can wake up so early in the morning, throw on a set of letters, and still look cute as hell.

Jeers to the few indivisdauls who oppose the formation of new chapters on campus, and who only serve the interests of their org and not the greek system. Our way of life is being threatend, in more ways than one, and people only car about what is good for themselves in the short term and not good for everyone (themselves included) in the long run. Just like when this country (USA) got started, the states only cared about what was good for themselves, and it took such effort to get them to work together. And even untill recent tragic events, the US was very sectionalised into regions and there was still-at least around where i live and grew up-a feeling of rivalry between states. Its a shame that it had to take somehting so tragic and extreme as what happened three months ago to bring us together, and I hope and pray that something that bad isn't whats needed to bring the greek system together.

jeers to me for getting distracted and getting up a soapbox.

cheers to me for saying what had to be said. (and then some)

cheers to the Longwood chapters of Sigma Phi Epsilon and Sigma Nu for being such good hosts this summer. Pm me for details on that one.

Ummm... yay Sigma Nu and Sigma Phi Epsilon?
(I don't really know any SPE's but the Sigma Nus are okay)

Anyway, so...

While, on that subject, cheers to Sigma Nu for getting recognition from the college and doing a super job with community service projects.

Jeers to some fraternity guys who broke into our chapter room, stole our food, and broke a full beer bottle in our hall.

Cheers to their president for sincerely apologizing after he heard about it.

Jeers to some other fraternity guy puking all over our dorm's halls and stairwells. This happened one night at like 10. Come on, if you're that wasted at 10, you've got problems!

Thumbs up Cheers!!!

Cheers to my GreekChat Delta Zeta ladies; I'm truly thrilled to call you my sisters!

Yay, Us!!!

My father was a college man, a Beta Theta Pi
My brother is in college now, a happy Sigma Chi
My uncle was a howling sport, he joined the Sigma Nu
And so when I to college went, they told me what to do

My father said, "Now daughter dear I'll give you good advice
Your mother was a DZ girl, a gem of matchless price
So if the DZs bid you, don't refuse the honor high,
Be wise just like your mother was, and pass the others by
