Tall Girls Rushing
Hi! This is more of a self-esteem issue I guess but I'm 6'0" and a lot of the rush outfits I've seen on the internet include high heels. I tend not to wear heels because people laugh at me and judge me for wearing them so I just wanted to know if it'd be terrible if I didn't wear heels during rush, if wearing heels would most likely negatively or positively impact sororities view of me and if other tall PNMs have been in the same predicament. Thanks!

There are such cute flat shoes and sandals, you can still be very stylish in flats. If you wear heels and are acting uncomfortable and awkward, that will work against you. Wear what gives you confidence.

Also, many times the seating arrangements will be a little odd, so be sure your skirts are long enough even if you are seated on the floor or even seated on a chair with a hostess on the floor facing you. I like Banana Republic's long section...the extra 2" or so really make a big difference.

One of the things going off to college can do is get you to own your own beauty. Remembering that you are no taller than most super-models who wear PLENTY of ridiculously high heels, I would wear what you feel good about, and know you are head and shoulders (both literally and figuratively) above those byatches who want to be snarky. If you happen to be blessed with height and relatively thin, then you need to understand you were picked on over jealousy. Because us short dumpy girls are jealous.
But, as state above, you should wear what you feel good in. Rush is hard enough without fighting with your footwear. And if you are not prepared to get used to wearing heels of any height between now and fall, then rush is no time to start. Wobbling around on heels is not the appearance you want to present.

Posted this in the wrong section, sorry..
In addition, I forgot to mention that we have winter rush at my school. It's not the bearable kind either, wind chill is terrible. I'll keep the tips in mind though, thanks!

I seem to remember a thread within the last 6 months of a school that *required* rushees under a specific height to wear heels and *required* those over that height to wear flats.
(5'8", I think)

I think I remember someone saying that in her chapter the actives (during rush) would wear flats if the sister was over 5'8" and if under a certain height would wear a heel. That way if a sister is paired with a PNM there's less risk of an awkward height difference since who you escort in the house is random.

I recently posted that about my daughter's chapter...the guideline is for actives, not PNMs. I think flats are fine. Riding/flat dress boots could be a popular option, too, for early rounds, depending on your campus.

Only if the dress requires it. By the time you're at preference, you shouldn't be a stranger to them. They will not judge you by your heel height at this point, and most likely you will be sitting during the final round. Wear what you are comfortable in, whether it's flats or heels.
One of the girls in my chapter was 6'0" and she rarely wore heels at recruitment events because she didn't want to tower over the PNMs. She did wear mid-range heels at preference because we were sitting down for all but the ceremony and her dress just didn't look right with flats.

I'm 6' tall, too.
Winter recruitment gives you lots of cute options to wear in boots. Boots can be ankle boots or knee high boots that have low heels or are flat. You can also pair ballet flats or loafers with jeans or pants.
Sorority Sugar has some cute pictures if you scroll down about half-way:

My daughter is 6 feet tall and wore flats for all of recruitment except for pref when she wore wedges. Good luck!

We had a young lady that was really tall go through recruitment this last year. If I remember correctly she wore flats most days and a small heel or wedge for Pref. There are also really cute flats you could wear.
