Question conversation

hey does anyone know of any good ways to practice conversation for recruitment? our chapter is having problems motivating our girls to actually pay attention during work week and so i thought if i could find interesting ways to practice maybe they wouldn't get so bored...

What we have done in the past during our recruitment practice are to do conversations where the older girls are the PNM and they are the girls that you would never want to have to talk to during recruitment. Like they would not say anything or only talk about boys, booze and bed. it is really interesting to watch and at the same time helps the younger girls with their conversation skills. Or you can have girls talk with each other and find out information about them that you would want to know about PNM during recruitment. Match up girls who do not usually hang out together(like older pledge classes with younger ones). it will be interesting what you could find out about your sisters that you never would have guessed. We have a problem getting people motivated at first as well, i think it is just a problem everyone has, but if you make it more fun and interesting everyone will pay more attention. I hope this helps!!

We also do the same thing when it comes to practicing conversation for recruitment. In some ways, it works because it helps our newer members to know how to react to the party, boys, and beer questions. But most of the time it turns to be something that becomes funny because of the comments some of the older members say. So I would really say that it helps, but it doesn't. Just don't use it as THE ONLY thing you use. Make sure you use a system to turn a comment of a PNM into something positive of our organization. Ex: They say they like swimming....incorporate that into Anchorsplash (if you have it) which then goes into Foundation.
There are my thoughts

Our VP Recruitment always keeps our attention with candy rewards Sometimes she'll stand in front of the chapter and make up imaginary scenarios and if a sister handles the situation well or makes excellent conversation, she'll get a piece of candy.

We also have crews during work week and one of them is a spirit crew. They put up signs around the house, organize secret sisters, and give out awards at the end of work week. Candy is usually involved somewhere in there too...
