My record is 6 times. Not that I ever played with fire. Or held a match. Nope, it wasn't me who held the match.

PS I Never knew how to use a match or a lighter until I was about 32 lol. I was too chicken!

There's really no point in posting the pronunciation because there are a few letters (like Xi and Phi) that some of us are going to say different no matter what.

What is that? I've actually heard a couple pronunciations- O- micron or Om- icron I think most commonly I hear the emphasis on the O sound.

Likewise with Iota.

We don't say "mooo," and I'm pretty sure no Phi Mu does either. It's "myew" to us.

If you listen to some of the old recordings of Stella talking, she pronounces Omicron totally differently from the way I was taught. Instead of a long O she says it with a short o and the end is different too.

Oh, and I learned the alphabet via song, but I can say it through twice before the match is too close for comfort- I impressed my nieces and nephew with that one on Thanksgiving.

I have never heard any of those recordings and would LOVE to....AOII needs to spend some money restoring them to digital recordings and putting them on the website! Hmmm....maybe a donation to the Foundation for that purpose is in order!

BTW...is it like Ah-mi-crin?

YES- That's it! I remember one of our traveling consultants had a tape of one of them that she had us listen to- it was one of the Fireside chats recorded at one of the conventions in either the 40s or 50s.
