Eleanor Smith Slaughter

A sad day as a Delta Gamma icon has passed away.

What a sad day, but her legacy lives on in so many ways. I remember thinking how cool it was that we all called the MOI the green book because Miss Eleanor carried hers in a green binder when it was coming together!

May we all strive to be as dedicated to DG as she was.

Truly a great lady. We were scared to death of her as undergrads but in awe of what she inspired us to accomplish. I still am.

I saw her at convention several years ago, convinced she wouldn't remember who I was after 30 years. I was wrong of course.

She had a mind like a steel trap! Never forgot a face - nor a transgression!

I hope it was my face she remembered...

Oh my. She is a legend, and may she rest in peace.

She was one of those icons that everyone in Delta Gamma knew, or knew of, or knew about.
I'm a "senior citizen" and can remember when she came to visit my chapter. Back in the day when things were pretty crazy. She was a no nonsense force then and even though it was hippies and protests and free love, it was still the South and we all made sure we said "Yes M'aam and wore dresses to dinner if she was visiting.
