If you like nature and art and antiques and "junktiques" try Hot Springs Arkansas.. the nations first resort and first national park! You can get fabulous massages, an outlet mall, shows, clubs, FOOD!, and nature all in about 10 square miles. I love it....

Cooperstown, NY
A very nice little town with the baseball hall of fame. Plus it's only 3 or 4 hours away from NYC.

I grew up in North LA, so Hot Springs was always a place we would travel for a quick trip. My mother and her best friend would go up for the "baths".
Is the park still open? I haven't been there since the 80's.

Carmel
I've not been there since I was a kid and couldn't appreciate it, but Carmel and the Big Sur coast in California is gorgeous. If I ever find someone suitable to marry and I don't want to spend big $$$ in the tropics, I would go there.

Isn't Carmel just adorable??!! Have you ever been to Sausalito, Steeltrap? (It's near SF.) It's like Carmel, but more of a "seaside town."

Newbie
I never made it to Sausalito when I was living in the Bay Area (1989), but I've heard it's also gorgeous.

I thought Yosemite was the first national park?! I guess I was wrong....
But my favorite place to vacation is the Northeast. Traveling up the coast on those beautiful little towns is awesome!
