Competition Event

At my school some of the most successful fundraisers have been competitive based events with a time requirement, such as an all guy beauty pageant (guys are a representative of their organization and must make it past certain rounds to win) or a stomp competition (each organization learns stomps and then later competes with them).

Then the second most successful are ones that are competition based without much preparation of the group (dodge ball tournament, kickball tournament, and sand volleyball competition).

I was wondering if anyone has had really successful fundraising event that falls in either category?
