I like it. Not enough of our chapters have Greek or Latin submottos.

I would start a chapter at the University of Hawaii and name it Mu Mu.

since our convention is right around the corner, have you ever been to one, and what was your favorite part?

I've been to NYC Centennial in 1997 as a collegian then Norfolk 2003, Atlanta 2005, and Tampa 2009 as an alumna. This will be my 5th Convention! I'm so excited about going out to Arizona! My favorite part is probably ritual with so many sisters. I also enjoy the business sessions. Yes they are long but this is the best way to see how our Fraternity runs!

Where would like you like to have Convention?

This will be my third convention, and other than ritual on such a grand scale, my favorite part of convention is Candlelighting! If you don't know what that is, a delegate from each collegiate chapter (or an alum representing closed chapters) comes forward in order of charter date and lights a candle then recites her chapter name and submotto. This is done in robes and is very formal. It's open to the public. When I was a collegian, I attended the Scottsdale Convention in 1995. Candlelighting was held outside against a backdrop of the Camelback Mountain. It was absolutely beautiful!

Question: If there was one question you could ask our founders, what would it be?

I think I would ask them all where they pictured us in 150 years, and to share any life advice that they might have learned throughout their lives. They really were fascinating women, I would have loved to have met them.

How does our ritual impact your daily life?

I'm afraid that I'll answer this in a way that gives anything away, so I will be very vague.

At my school I think it is the last thing we say before we leave chapter. It is ritual so I don't think I can share without giving it away.

What is your recruitment story of how you came to be an AOII?

The long-winded version of my story can be found here, but long story short:

I went through recruitment as a freshman, but signed "no pref" due to financial reasons. Between then and my sophomore year, I decided that I still wanted to be Greek, and I saved up some money from my summer job. I went through recruitment again, and received my first choice, AOII! Our chapter has struggled a bit, but we brought in seven new members through FMR (including myself) and we just had an informal bid signed yesterday

As a new member, I'm not yet super familiar with AOII. For the actives and alumnae, what do you remember most about your new member period? For example, was there a part of NME that really "clicked" with you, or was there something you and your new member/pledge class did together that was particularly memorable?

I just sent you a PM

I was a "pledge" back during the days of semester-long pledging and initiation in January, so read this knowing this was normal back in those days. We did a pledge walkout to our Kappa Omega chapter at the University of Kentucky, and those of you who know me KNOW how much I enjoyed that! I loved going to Lexington with my sisters, and meeting more sisters. It was such fun, especially for us since at that time we were not housed. It's wonderful to see that bigger picture of AOII as a newer member, and to get the idea that we're so much more than one chapter or one school.

I currently work with our New Member Advisers and New Member Educators as part of my volunteer position and love it. There are no words for how much I adore "The Promise" and think it's a great way to introduce our sisterhood to AOII. I go back from time to time and look at my old "pledgebook", and I imagine our sisters will do the same in the future with "The Promise".

Question (for the game): Which living AOII do you want to meet one day, and why?

I can just imagine you walking to UK!

I think I've met every prominent AOII out there, so I'll leave your question for someone else.
