The Tom Joyner morning show has been talking about it today and yesterday on the radio. Has anyone heard the comments from his show? Basically he is stating that the frat on that campus needs to be suspended forever....I agree.

I did...

I went to a PWCU, and we had both Delta Sigs and Beta Theta Pi. Both orgs on my campus each had a Black student (big whoop, I know). But seriously, the Delta Sigs were pretty cool. The Beta's were kinda nerdy and boring. Never had a problem like that out of any of them. Not anything like this. We had other racial issues, though. But never on the Greek tip.

By the way, Frat, glad to have you back.

Angry

I am just so angry and disgusted with these individuals. The ladies posing in the pics should also be expelled from school. They are just as gulity as these idiots. I agree that both orgs should be suspended from that campus forever.

You know, I kept asking myself why would these so-called "ladies" posed in pictures with these idiots? That's just plain stupid! First, I wouldn't even want to attend a party where members of another ethnicity and greek organization are being mocked. Second, I wouldn't dare smile and pose for pictures with them! UUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHH!

Good to hear from you, TOA. I was wondering what you thought about all of this.
One of the members of the NPHC listserv (a soror) also suggested that Omega Psi Phi sue the two fraternities involved for copyright infringement.

Cool It's good to hear from you too!

It's good to hear from you too, Steellady!

Besides givin' a monumental beat-down, all they really can do is demand a public apology, and sue both of the frats.

I suggest they do it all!

Public apology, lawsuits, chapter snatched, house pulled and a beatdown.

To quote a well-known domestic goddess, not B. Smith:

"It's a good thing."

Angry Bad isht runs in threes

Well, this stuff is like a particularly nasty STD. It won't go away.
This appeared in the University of Mississippi's student paper. The link features a photo of another a-hole in blackface.

Fraternity party under investigation

Two members of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity are
being expelled from the organization in connection
with a racially insensitive photograph taken at this
year's ATO Halloween party. The university and the ATO
national organization will continue to investigate the
actions of the entire chapter.
The photograph depicted a fraternity member, dressed
as a police officer, holding a gun to the head of
another member dressed in blackface. The member in
blackface was wearing a straw hat while kneeling on
the ground picking cotton.

The picture was posted on the Party Pics' network Web
site. The Web site posts professionally taken pictures
at organizational parties as a means of distributing
photo proofs for purchase. The
pictures have since been removed from the Web site.

ATO president Grant Gremillion refused to comment on
the situation, but the fraternity released a statement
regarding the incident.

"As an organization on The University of Mississippi
campus ATO is highly sensitive to the issue of race
and the chapter is sincerely sorry for this terribly
unfortunate incidence," the statement said.

Wynn Smiley, chief executive officer of the national
fraternity, said the incident was unfortunate and
there will be an investigation into the chapter's
responsibility.

"There's really no gray area, it's absolutely
unacceptable," Smiley said. "The investigation is to
ensure that we understand what was going on and about
the party itself, and to get a better idea of what was
going on that night."

Smiley said he has every reason to believe that it was
an isolated incident and the national fraternity will
be investigating and taking disciplinary actions
against the chapter.

"There wasn't much judgment, but the two people
depicted are very much misdirected individuals and
have no place in our organization," Smiley said.

Associated Dean of Students Jason Dean said a
university investigation would begin today.

"As painful as the process is going to be, we're going
to grow from this and hopefully become better for it,"
Dean said.

Chancellor Robert Khayat agreed with Dean.

"This is unfortunate because this isolated incident
will present the entire university in a negative way,"
Khayat said. "We will take whatever actions are
necessary."

Phi Beta Sigma, a traditionally black fraternity,
co-sponsors with the ATOs the Chucky Mullins Banquet,
honoring the former Ole Miss football player.

Sigma President Vernon Rayford and Vice President
Tejuan Leland said they hope this incident does not
affect the annual banquet.

"If it scars the relationship, it's a failure on both
sides," Rayford said.

Rayford and Leland said the incident is a step back
for Ole Miss.

"When my friends, black and white, ask me if there is
racial tension I say no more than anywhere else, but
stuff like this disheartens me," Leland said.

Rayford also said it was important not to stereotype
the beliefs of all members of the fraternity, but some
responsibility must fall on the entire chapter.

"I don't think that all ATOs are racist," Vernon said.
"Don't make assumptions."

The response from Sigma is interesting. I can't see sponsoring any type of event with a chapter that accepts this type of behavior. While I agree that the attitude does not represent the organization it does speak to the current members of the chapter.

Hopefully, the Sigmas on that yard will seriously examine the situation.
