2012/2013 Colonies/Expansions/Charters/Closures

sorry everyone- After I posted it this I remembered I had LSU greeklife on facebook so I checked there. They are presenting on the 21st. I don't have any idea who else is presenting maybe someone else knows, and when they would be colonizing. My daughter will be a senior so I am sure it will be after she is gone.

Good luck to both! Tarleton is a great little campus w/students who are very passionate about their school & NPC chapters that are bursting at the seams, so this will be a good thing. ASA would be a recolonization which would be nice for those alumnae (they were there from 1988 - 1992 or 3, I think...they colonized in Fall 1988 when I went through recruitment as a Freshman). DPhiE might be something quite different for the TSU Greek community. Hope whichever group is picked has lots of success. My friend who is the DZ CCD said they have had many talks about how the success of the new group is vital to their community & that the existing groups are on board and ready to give their support.

Any word on who is making presentations @ Ole Miss?

This is an article from 2011. In it the Greek Life director at Alabama states that they would like to add 4 sororities, with Delta Gamma in '11, and new sororities in '13, '15, and '17. Wonder if it is still in the plan? This also answers the question when Delta Phi Epsilon presented at Bama.

I think the problem with this plan was that DPhiE was the only group that submitted to campus for extension. I assume the university was expecting more of a turnout to go forward with said plan.

I think that Bama may have been in talks with Sigma Kappa and Tri Sigma (at least that was the word on campus) when they made the "four sororities" plan. However, I remember when the DPhiE extension was brought up (this past spring), we were told that other than them, we wouldn't have another group colonizing until 2015. I'm not sure if that's Alabama's plan (i.e.-they have a group and haven't announced it) or if that's just what they'd like to happen.

It seems to me like the biggest issue is going to be housing, although with Tri Delt, Alpha Gam, and ADPi getting new houses, there will be space open on the row. Tri Delt's house is going to Alpha Chi, I think, so that they can expand, but there will still be two open houses.

Sigma Kappa back at Alabama would be interesting to consider, but with Mizzou this fall I would guess that maybe 2013 might be a little early. Maybe 2014/2015 would be more feasible with all of the planning and ground work needed to be successful at Alabama.

I think that may have been what was planned, actually. I kept hearing DG in 2011, Tri Sig in 2013, and Sig Kap in 2015. That was the rumor, anyway. I got the feeling that something fell through (or maybe it wasn't at all set in stone in the first place), and that's when we heard about a possible DPhiE expansion. I think Bama may have wanted them to colonize in 2013, and then try and line another group up for 2015.

Tri Sigma is building a beautiful house at Mizzou right now, so another big campus expansion might not work for them.
