New Sorority & Actives
Hi! This post is only because I'm curious as to how this colonization will happen. In fall 2016, my school will be welcoming ADPi into our greek family. Exactly how will this chapter be established (especially when it comes to rush) next fall? Will actives from other sororities leave their sororities and become a part of the new one? I know these may sound like silly questions only because it does not particularly pertain to me but it's just something that I'm curious about since I do not know. Thank you!

While it can vary from group to group and campus to campus, the USUAL procedure is for the new group to participate in Open House or whatever your first round is called using alumnae - recent and older graduates, HQ staff, etc to man the event. After that event, they do not have any other recruitment events until after formal recruitment is over. Then they will have an interview round, possibly a party round of some sort and then a regular pref put on by a chapter from another school with Bid Day either then or the next day. Your Greek Life office can tell you for sure what format they will use.
And actives from other groups cannot join the new one. You are only allowed to belong to one NPC group in your lifetime.

Actives from other chapters of ADPi might come to help with recruitment, but girls from other sororities would never leave their GLO to join the new colony. It is not permitted.

Also, the new chapter will have an advisory board and other national volunteers to aid them in learning how to be a sorority. They don't just get thrown into Greek life and have to figure it all out alone.

Trying to picture this. "OK, you, you, and you! You have to leave!"

Typically girls from all four classes (freshman/sophomore/junior/senior) are offered bids. This can represent a good opportunity especially for juniors and seniors, who will still need to bring a good resume with them in terms of grades and campus involvement.
