Boulder, CO – November 10, 2008 – The founders of the local chapter of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. introduced themselves today to the community during a public performance on the campus of the University of Colorado at Boulder.
The Sorority established its first Colorado-based undergraduate entity in a private ceremony on November 8, 2008. The Alpha Zeta Colony represents the twenty-seventh undergraduate installation of the national organization and joins forty-two undergraduate and Graduate, Alumnae and Professional (GAP) colonies and chapters which are maintained by over 800 initiated women.
The Alpha Zeta Colony’s seven founders of Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, African American, Mexican American and Taiwanese descent concluded a year-long effort to establish the colony at the University of Colorado at Boulder where they will seek to align with ten other minority Greek organizations comprising the Multicultural Greek Council. These ten organizations identify as historically Black, historically Latino/a, historically Asian and Gay/Bi-Sexual/Progressive.
The Alpha Zeta Colony of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. will become the first historically-multicultural Greek letter organization at the University and its members will promote multiculturalism and facilitate the movement from tolerance to deep respect for the beauty of difference through educational, cultural and social events.
