I am in an organization that I would refer to as predominately white, where as my chapter is not (it is majority hispanic) and I am one of the first Black women initiated into my chapter (from what I am told) and currently the only active Black member in my chapter.
When we go to conferences within our organization we are always the chapter that stands out culturally, we just do.
I personally don't take offense to the term predominately white greek letter organization in regards to my organization because it is predominately white. However, there are members of all races in my organization.
I do think it is strange to hear of a non NPHC at a predominately Black school, but I do see it as positive as long as they are bringing something new to the table.
That's my two cents.
