I gave my notice verbally right before I left yesterday (and turned in a letter this morning).

Please start looking for your replacement ASAP.
Couldn't you have given a longer notice?
Who's going to do payroll when we're on vacation? (We worked out that I'm probably going to come in on Labor Day)
But best reaction:
I wish you would have told me you were looking so we could have found a replacement and had more time to train them. Ha! Really? Who does that with no sure leads? It's one thing if you're moving or something else, but otherwise, I've been sort of casually looking for YEARS.
