Killer of ISU Sigma Kappa identified

https://www.wthr.com/article/police-...er-isu-student

Pam Milam, a Sigma Kappa at Indiana State, was last seen on September 15, 1972. She had attended a rush party at Halstead Hall and had planned to stay at the sorority suite in the Lincoln quad. She was last seen by her sisters going to move her car closer to the quad. She was found dead (by her father and sister) in the trunk of her car, parked on campus.

Police used DNA evidence from a rope at the scene to get a DNA profile. It was then sent to Parabon Nanolabs who used genetic information from GEDMatch (submitted by the public) to trace the perpetrator's family tree (this is the same technology they used to catch the Original Night Stalker/East Area Rapist last year).

Jeffrey Lynn Hand, 23 at the time, was identified as her killer. He was killed in a shoot out with police in 1978.

Sadly, Pam's parents have both passed and never saw a resolution to their daughter's case.
