I noticed that there are several organizations named Alpha Nu Omega.

http://www.alphanuomega.org/
http://alphanuomega.net/
http://stuser.mcdaniel.edu/ANO/index2.htm

The one that Barack Obama became a member of does not seem to be any of the ones listed above.

At first I thought that the fraternity he pledged at UIU was the predominantly black Christian fraternity (www.alphanuomega.org), but that wasn't founded until November 3, 1988 and according to their website does not have a chapter at UIU.

In the article they mention that Dr. Doug McReynolds is their advisor. Looking on his website (http://www.uiu.edu/~liberalarts/mcreynoldsd.htm), Alpha Nu Omega is referred to as a "predominantly African American", which means that it is not the other two organizations mentioned above (http://alphanuomega.net/) nor (http://stuser.mcdaniel.edu/ANO/index2.htm).

Therefore, the Alpha Nu Omega Fraternity at UIU seems to be a local organization.

I agree with ladygreek's third statement.
