I see what you're saying, but I think the missing logic comes from saying that "nationals chose to
keep 'fraternity.'" Before the name change, wasn't it the Philomathean
Society? That being the case, wouldn't it be that, given its founding date, Phi Mu chose to call itself a fraternity rather than to "keep" fraternity?
