Yes. Schadenfreude is not a good foundation upon which to build.

And yes, I know it happens all the time, but I would hope that the incoming group that benefits is respectful and thankful to the alumni of the closed chapter, instead of just "whoo hoo!! We gotta house!"

ETA: Along those lines, one of my fb friends posted a pic of a banner at her (very very small) school's Greek life office that said "gone but not forgotten" & a list of the closed fraternity and sorority chapters (one of which was hers). Someone posted in response "I wish they wpuld all close, fraternities are good for nothing but rape and alcoholism" (paraphrasing). I had to walk away from that one because I knew I was going to call her every name in the book - and she still wouldn't realize why what she said was so hideous.
