Hi! I am probably a first for this greekchat forum. I was doing an interview for my granddaughter about my courtship with her grandfather. I found a thread here regarding "lavaleiring" when I was unclear on the spelling. It was then I realized you young Greeks are no longer doing this. When I was lavaleired it was also called being pinned. The tradition then was the guy literally pinned his frat pin on the girls clothing which she wore on everything, Because it was being engaged to be engaged. At the time [Kappa Sigma- TN] the girl was given a dozen roses from the chapter. Also, the guy and one of his brothers were blindfolded and taken on what was called a goat ride, where they were left out in the country without shoes and/wallets and had to get back to the house. I would think all of these things would still be meaningful today, without the "goat" ride of course. I hope this provides answers for those who were discussing this subject.
