No, it's not like totally disgusting. It's a secretion that's about 80% acetic acid, 15% octanoic acid, plus some other acids in minute quantities. But it's diluted with water. It also depends on the species as well. It just has an odor when he does spray. It smells like vinegar because it's similar to the same chemicals that make up vinegar. They spray for self-defense.

eta: Oh, and yes. He has a very, very large aquarium. It's like, massive. Charlotte's is, too. I just want them to feel as though they're outside in their natural habitats. So the aquariums are really big ones with lots of places and space for them to go.
