Have you tried it on with different shirts to see whether the size may work depending on the outfit? Have you asked your Big where the jacket was purchased to see what the company recommends?

I do not recommend making any adjustments yourself.

Jackets are sometimes bought at a larger size so that you can wear it on top of thicker shirts. Many years ago, I took my line sister's advice and bought a huge jacket that is way too long and way too bulky in the arms. I do not know why I took her advice. I should have known better when she was getting the smaller size for her own jacket. LOL. Thankfully I am way too old to be wearing that jacket as much as I did years ago. When I wear it, I wear it during colder months and adjust the bottom of the jacket so that it looks like it is supposed to be spacious.
